OK, not quite. But I did just hook up my new DSL connection.

Gee, it doesn't take 20 minutes to download ride reports in C & T any more. I might just like this new fangled stuff.......

Your cafeteria must be high tech

I got DSL right before I started school last semester and I love it. Just wait til you have to use dial-up somewhere else, though. Talk about wanting to pull your hair out!

The only reason people "need" DSL is to download Porn quicker.

You can never go back to dial up. I've had a cable modem since 2000. Now we have a wireless network at home, and at school the network is all high speed with wireless hot spots across campus. I can't imagine dealing with dial-up.

wireless here at home too....I usually use my laptop in the basement with the modem on upstairs..I sit in front of a 47" HDTV big screen with surround sound and watch the news, and post on here. Plus my bike is on the trainer about 4 feet from me...

I held out for a long time but I was taking two online courses in addition to my regular classes and it was unbelievable how much trouble dial up gave me...mainly stuff timing out. Once I got kicked offline in the middle of a timed test and it took me about six minutes to get back up and get everything reloaded. Just too much of a headache. Now if I get kicked off it only takes a minute or so to get back to where I was.

And yeah, the porn downloads a lot faster, too.

Couldn't resist - ATT/Yahoo for $12.99 a month for a year. That's less than I was paying ATT Worldnet for dial up. After the year is up, it's only a couple dollars more than the dial up. I got tired of waiting 20 minutes for the ride report pix to download.

your going to spend like the first two days going to all the sites that took too long to load before. get firefox and open like 20 tabs of ride reports.

im suprised the price of dialup isnt like 4 dollars a month now.

Dial-up? Man, that's akin to banging rocks together to get a spark. Is that even still available in this day and age? Weird... I thought 512kbps was getting too slow for what the webs is now, running 4Mbps now which is much, much better. :D

Snap,
You'll notice a huge difference when it comes to stuff like booking travel, buying concert tickets, surfing for accomodations somewhere, anything that seems to take forever with a modem will be lightning fast with your DSL. Opening up multiple search windows will now be a "snap" :).
Have fun.
Cheers, Wayne

I remember dial-up...seemed to take forever to get to the "good" naughty bits!
