found a pattern online and cut up an old shirt and shorts. not the greatest thing in the world, but it works. i have some more prototypes to do before i feel comfortable with it.

The Kid was enthralled with the sewing machine and loved my hat. when i was finished he demanded, "i want my own hat. can you make me my own hat?"
"what color?"
"green and blue and pink and orange."
"well, i was using old clothes to make mine. we will have to ask mom if you have any we can use."
"i have some!"
next thing i know, The Kid is running upstairs and tearing through his dresser looking for stuff to cut up.

during his nap i went out and got some froggy pattern material. he was jumping up and down he was so excited.
too much snow on the ground to ride outside, so he tried it out on his smart cycle.

Weltycaps!

Btw, that last pic is the shiz. He's got such a great big grin. :) And glad he's enthused about riding the trainer. I hate the trainer. Hate hate hate.

Hate.

I used the same pattern and had some nice results. Made mine with some of my old corduroy pants.

I didn't use cardboard, but I used the plastic covering from a Mead 5 subject notebook and it worked perfectly. I was scared to use cardboard because I thought it would soak in rain and such and become mushy. Hopefully that was what you're talking about...

That makes total sense, I didnt mean cardboard per se, i just ment a bill insert of some type and you nailed it on the head.

i used a mead notebook, too. but i cut the bill material too small, so i had to cut the mead material small. it is stiff, but not great.

he wore it to the sitter yesterday. all day.
