...and picked up a 1.75 of vodka and a 12er of Newcastle. On the way back I rounded a corner and the vodka slid towards the back of the truck and broke. So now I not only have no vodka, but my truck smells like Otis from the Andy Griffith show. FML.

In Canada, that would be a loss of anywhere between $50-100. I think i would have cried.
$19 plus tax...3 Olives vodka...at least it wasn't Grey Goose. You people in Canada pay way too much for booze.

that's why the good stuff is in plastic bottles.
Yup..I'd have been fine if I'd have opted for Smirnoff.

I know. It's fuggin' crazy what we pay. It always pisses me off more when I see Canadian product on sale in the US for less than half of what I would pay up here.

I sometimes make cross border trips or trips to Quebec if I am near Ottawa.

$19; that's just insane.

I seem to recall that the booze wasn't that expensive until they tacked all the taxes & fees on top, then put that price on the shelf tag.:mad2:

Did it break on anything spongy that you can suck on for a quick fix, like some upholstery or a stuffed animal?

YOu should have ridden the cruiser, then it would have all been OK. You would have take special precautions to adequately secure the precious cargo.

\\A case of bottled beer gets really heavy in the trailer when you live at the top of a hill, just so you know.

\\\Beer and booze costs way to much in Canada, home distillery?

This article in the Atlantic last spring really got be thinking about it:

The best booze I've ever had, bar none (no pun intended), was homemade vodka in a tiny, almost-third-world village in eastern Poland. The town owned one still that was on wheels; it passed from house to house on a highly regulated schedule so that each family could make enough to last until their turn came around again.

These people just got electricity in the 90s, indoor plumbing is still about 50/50 and most of them are subsistence farmers at or below the poverty line, but when it comes to the still they've got their act together.

that's why you need to either buy the stuff in the plastic jugs or drink it right there in the store before you leave.

This guy knows not to waste booze

BERLIN — A man nearly died from alcohol poisoning after quaffing a liter (two pints) of vodka at an airport security check instead of handing it over to comply with new carry-on rules, police said Wednesday.
