Rumor has it that ones in the production cycle are going to be painted up and labeled as Kleins...
High-end bikes are life-style luxury items now, so prices are completely market driven. If people will buy all the remaining Lemonds at or close to MSRP, there will be no unloading of any kind.
Do 90% of the customers even know that LeMond is owned by Trek and/or that they are going to split?
The Tete de Course was surprisingly popular for Lemond. I'm not sure the appeal, now that the new Madone is out--but I doubt you'll be finding amazing deals on it. I've seen other Lemond models reduced substantially--including an 07 Lemond Triomphe Carbon (Versailles) for $1499. Not bad for a full carbon bike!
btw... Both Trek and Lemond have said they will not be reusing existing (production) Lemond designs for future Klein or Trek models.
Apologies, I am a little late to the party here. Is Trek selling Lemond are are they discontinuing the brand name.

Either way I would've thought Klein would go first

and do they care?
I bought at 07 Versailles yesterday:D for 1350 from an LBS. The double was 1300!

They are parting ways with Lemond--he can't keep his mouth shut about his suspicions of high-profile Trek-sponsored riders doping (ie: Armstrong, Levi, Contador, etc.).

Klein did go first--they stopped selling them outside of Japan a few years ago. They are bringing them back due to the 'loss' of Lemond.
Suspicions?

Are you on the LA payroll? Since when did telling the truth about anything make one bitter? I guess if he kept his mouth shut and sucked up to Lance like all the other feckless people in the sport, keeping his personal gravy train rolling with no hiccups, that would make him a non bitter person, more to your liking. If the greatest living upstanding figure in the sport can't talk about the fraud plaguing it, who will?

You don't even have the gumption to be honest anonymously.

Oh, I'm sorry, your cynicism has LeMond convicted based on well, nothing.

Nice personal conviction and reasoning powers.:eek:ut:
Look, Greg Lemond's name was on bicycles built by Trek. I don't care if he suspects Armstrong and others of doping--targeting Trek's money makers without any real evidence is just stupid. I think it would have been admirable, if his target was more broad--but many of his personal attacks were targeted at Trek-sponsored American riders. It's senseless bad business--if he doesn't have any evidence, what good is it going to do him, Trek or anyone else? It just makes him come across as bitter about being bypassed by more successful american riders.

It's unfortunate--because I think a lot of people will remember him more for his more recent antics than his cycling accomplishments.
Take it to the doping forum, boys. I'm just lookin for a deal on bike here.

is it true? or is it merely an opinion, your opinion? lance armstrong can say the same thing, afterall he was never caught with anything.

is lemond going to shut down or will it continue? can't really see them going long, they dont have the kind of resouces and demand.

The accusations against LeMond are akin to me saying you're dirty. Prove me wrong.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I draw obvious inferences, from clear evidence re LA.

My opinion is that LeMond will continue in one form or another dependent on whether people love cycling, and LeMond's profile in the sport. He's a young guy. IF he could establish a new paradigm for cycling he could be successful. I don't see him packing it in with cycling or closing his mouth. Should he?

Well, LA and GL are two mutually exclusive entities. This thing will come to a head eventually. Trek will then try to make excuses.
I definitely think it's best for everyone that LeMond split with Trek. If he wants to speculate about Trek riders--and Trek's not paying his check--it seems like he has more freedom to do that.

If he wants to start his own (independent) brand again, I think he won't have much trouble doing that. I hope he has the business sense to make it work.

Regardless, Creakyknees should be able to find a cheap bike out the deal! ;)

Good point. I really like both riders. It would be great if they were co-anchor on OLN's coverage of the tour. They should get rid of the hypocritical doper Phil Liget he has been doping since the Alzheimer’s set in a few years back.

OP check E-Bay

Stupid? The whole thing started when Walsh asked GL about the Ferrari connection back in 2001. LA had been secretly working with Ferrari for 6 years. He was asked about the most relevant issue in sports today. Were his comments unfounded then. Answer No. Are they even more true today, with all we know, yes....

GL was asked a very specific question by a reporter and then forced to disavow those comments by the powers of cycling. GL regretted that. Are you effing nuts? You're defending the scumbags that forced him to back down. Admirable? From your posts you have no idea of the concept.

What planet are you living on? There is a whole book of evidence and GL has the personal testimonials of many people. It makes him come across as bitter to people who are invertebrates.

It's unfortunate there are so many moreons out there with their asshats choking off the oxygen supply to their brains, that subscribe to this line of thinking you're advancing.

BTW creakyknees, I hope you find your bike.....
