Just back from a few weeks in Ireland for work.

The weather was amazing the first week - sunny and a crisp 4-5° C. perfect for cycling, but i didn't bring my bike :(

anyway, i took some snaps, and thought I'd share.

i should have saved this for St Pat's on Friday, but here we go...

you know you're not in kansas anymore (or NYC, or Amsterdam, or most other places for that matter) when there's Irish written on the road, to tell you to stop & look

a friend took me on a road trip to Galway. the way they drive over there, i can understand why he had a rosary hanging from his rear view mirror

this was on the drive up to Galway. I wouldn't want to be on a road like this at night.

some castles. these are restored. there's plenty of castles in ruins littering the landscape, the crumbling remains of an occupying force.

a pic taken along 'the prom', outside of Galway

took this snap as the hound came running alongside the car. my buddy told me that there was a hunt going on, and the dog must have lost the pack. they'll run and run and run, until they collapse.

the celtic tiger may still be roaring, but there's still plenty of signs of the ireland of old. despite appearances, this shop is open for business

when in Ireland, do as the Irish do...

thanks for looking

Nice pics. I went to Scotland a couple years ago and it looks a lot like that. The skinny roads would be a challenge. In the Highlands there were one lane roads used by both directions of traffic. Occasionally there were pullouts to allow the oncoming vehicles to get around. I could just see that here.

there's definitely some similarities (I lived in Scotland for 2 1/2 years).

Nice Photos.

I spent a semester in Northern Ireland during my undergrad, it was nice to be reminded of that. Would love to go back.
