Hey guys,

I know we've had forum discussions on how crazy the specialized SCS 135 mm hub is and the conundrum it essentially caused for road bikes and how it essentially locks buyers in from adding wheels due to its rear spacing. Specialized says that they want to keep the 135 spacing on their chainstays due to the "responsiveness" and possible heel clearance issues versus adopting to 142mm wide hubs.

My question is: Is this just marketing hype and 142 mm wide hubs are totally fine for road cycling and racing? Is there heel clearance issues?

Any other input is welcome on this topic. Just looking into its effects on road only applications, not necessarily road or gravel bikes.
