I am using Koolstop pads on D/A brakes with Mavic R-Sys wheels. My rear brake squeals a lot. I tried cleaning the brake tracks with steel wool and the squealing got worse. Any suggestions?

Did you clean the pad surface, too? Try a little sandpaper. Sometimes they're a little glazed.

Then adjust the toe-in.

I never had squealing brakes until I bought Koolstops. I frequuently clean my rims with a Scotchbrite pad. It's one of those fabric-like green scrubby pads. You can get them at any grocery, drug, or hardware store. I also sand the pads lightly. That seems to cure it for a week or so.
