Red...

Well, the "full retail" usually had the ceramic BB included, which costs a bunch. People finally started separating them.

$260 is still really dang cheap if you can find one that's not, like, a 177.5mm 34/50.

The 2009's with the Ceramic BB come in around $550. Less the BB cost, the crank is still $350 or so. That's why I'm still amazed at these things going for $260-$280.

Maybe there was a run with mild blemishes or something.

will the red crankswork with rival cups?
Aren't the Rival and Force BBs the same (standard non-ceramic)? In any case, unless it's one of the new BB30 Red cranksets, yes they will work.

Yes-it's the same thing just without ceramic bearings.

Supposedly SRAM recommends pretty meticulous maintenance intervals for their ceramic bearing BB. I have the rear derailleur (with ceramic bearings)--and they state that the pulleys should be lubed every 200 hours or after ANY exposure to water!
That has me a bit leery about ceramic bearings as a whole.

Maybe I've been negligent but with Shimano 9-speed, I NEVER check the pulleys or the BB...

Remember, GXP is a standard.

The GXP BB is the same for all SRAM, Truvativ, Bontrager, etc... cranks.

The GXP "team" is 30 bucks. Everything else is ceramic and at least $100+
