Hi Everyone,

So I peeled the hood back (for the first time) to gain access to the little slot so I can change the inner shift cable. To my dismay, the rubber hood started to split in half like a piece of paper. :mad2:

Is this due to the quality of the hood or what? FYI, I have been changing cables on my shimano shifters (both 9 and 10 speed) from 105 to DA. I've done the same with all my 10sp campy shifters without problems.

I bought my shifters online just a few months ago. Does Anyone know if Sram would cover something like this? My right hood is still in one piece.

I had Force last year, Red this year--no torn hoods. The ergonomic hoods are one of the best features of SRAM--be nice to them! ;)

There are cool red, pink and white hood options available online for $30, and come with matching tape:

Thanks for the links Marvin. I'm just a little annoyed that hoods are so thin as to compromise durability. I've nothing but trouble running Sram and I've wanted to go Red. I guess I must now deter my weightweenie impulse and just wait for good old Shimano comes 09.

Does anyone here have a left Sram hood single for sale? :D
