They are very similar to speedplay, just with a slightly lower stack height (11mm) and more durable cleat design in my opinion.
I bought the stainless version for about $100 less than the Speedplay X/1 pedals go for. The stainless version is the same weight as the X/1 titanium pedal.
You have to be careful setting up the cleats. If you really crank down on the bolts you end up flexing the cleat- this opens it up and your pedal will pull right out. Once I got the cleats right, they have worked flawlessly for around 2000 hard miles (this year- I put them on in January).
