Hi!

Someone in my office saw the article in USA Today about Lance Armstrong being what they regard as the "fourth toughest athlete." In the conversation, I mentioned how equipment changed over the years. However, I didn't know enough to give details.

Anyone know of a good site or reference to see how, say, Merckx's or Hinault's bike compares to a modern Trek 5500/5900/Madone?

Thanks!

This site is a good source for older bikes. Check out the bikes in the Italy and France section. It will give you a good idea of the type of bikes that Merckx and Hinault rode.
