hey there ya'lls, there is a vintage(late 80's,maybe early 90's) Marin steel road bike that my bro at a LBS has. it is made from Tange Infinity and is a two tone black with neon green. it is in pretty good shape with no rust or dents and such, the only thing being the stickers are scraped off in a few spots. it is a 59 c-c. it is put together except it is missing cranks, a rear cogset(appears to be the 7 speed cassette type) and i think brakes. the bike was a seven speed as it does have seven speed 105 downtubers. it is welded style, not lugged. oh and mis-match wheels. any how he says make him an offer. i am a super bike nut so i am not worried about or in need of parts. but does any one know if these bikes are worth it or worth anything? i would say 100 bucks for it as is but i dont know? what do you guys think. has any one ridden one or have one? if he wants more than $150 i would say forget it. or what? i just love the oldies!!! the stem and bars are good the rear hub is good(shimano 600).

the steel marin

i was over there again checking that unit out today. it has Shimano 105 7 speed downtube shifters, brakes, front and rear derailleur and brake levers. it has an aero matrix front wheel and a shimano 600 rear hub with a campagnolo aero hoop. it is actually Tange 900? does anyone know if this tubset is any good? it does also have the wide Modolo bars, which i like. here is a pic of it. what do ya'lls think? if i can get some extra bucks together, i think i will go for it? i was thinking to use it for commuter maybe?<p>

does any one have this unit or similar? please post some pics, thanks

Sounds like it was a pretty decent mid-range bike. Fix it up and ride it, for sure. That 105 stuff is good, same with the tubing it's made out of.

I think that it was a 93. Same paint as my first "real" mountainbike a Marin Palisades Trail. I believe that the standard spec was full 105. Never rode one, but I would bet it is a pretty nice bike overall.
