Man, what a disappointment. What can I say. Ben Affleck was in it as a chubby Batman. If you liked "Batman vs Superman" or if you're a big fan of Michael Bay you'll love this gorgeous mess. In a nutshell it's a threadbare story with lots of explosions. The End. Jared Leto over acted the Joker more than Al Pacino did in "A Scent of a Woman" and that's saying a lot because Jared was on screen for a total of 5 mins.

Batman is now a perv? He started macking on an unconscious Harley Quinn after he recused her from drowning. WTH?

I don't have much hope for "Wonder Woman", "Justice League" or "Aquaman".

Best dig I've heard so far... Suicide Squad is so bad, Johnny Depp wondered why he wasn't in it.

Say what you want about Pacino, but he won an Oscar for that overacting. :)

The whole DC side of the comic book movie biz is a mess. :(

Maybe they can steal Joss Whedon or something. They need help, desperately.

So it checks all the boxes that today's average audience looks for in a movie...
But is that completely true, though?

A lot of these big 'explosion fest and nothing else' type movies are actually bombing at the US box office these days. Or maybe they have a big opening week and then fall off sharply afterwards, due to negative word-of-mouth.

They tend to do okay-to-great overseas, though.

I'm just down going to a theater once or twice a year. Either it's me getting older or the quality being offered is lacking.

Probably both.

All the money is in animated nowadays, because the average intelligence level is that of a 7 year old I guess...

I just found out that the best theater in this area (recliners, free drinks and popcorn!) does a $6 senior all-day-monday thing, cool.

I didn't see the film, but I was turned off by Harley's character in the trailers. She is supposed to have a distinct NYC accent and sound like a whiny brat. She was nothing like that in the trailer.

What I find so depressing is the large percentage of Hollywood films that are remakes....and a large percentage of those are remakes of movies that were pretty horrible in their original form. A bad remake of a bad movie....why? In my best Nancy Kerrigan voice....WHY????? :(

Word. It's as if a hot chick is gonna bring the adolescent boys out in all of us. Just check out how they are marketing "Batman vs Superman". Wonder Women (who was barely in the film) is front and center of the DVD box and Batman and Superman are in the background.

All of Harley Quinn's scenes were cut away/reaction shots. Pee-YOU.

I agree. Not all "explosive" movies are bad. The new Star Trek Beyond was a good decent Star Trek filler movie. Nothing new here. Another baddie tries to wreak havoc against the Federation and Action-Jackson Kirk (take that Jean Luc) saves the day!

The only bone I have to pick is the Enterprise gets destroyed, AGAIN! Man, the Enterprise gets destroyed as much as Kirk and crew like to time travel.

One of my co-workers, who is a very avid life-long comic book guy, said Wonder Woman's small role was the only slightly redeeming thing in that movie. And it had nothing to do with being a hot chick. He said that movie was pretty much a turd all-around but she played her part, limited though it was, well. I didn't watch it. He's proven to be a very reliable critic when it comes to comic book based stuff so when he says something's a turd, I don't bother.

I bet Captain Kirk's insurance premiums are through the roof! Every couple years he totals the Enterprise.

Didn't Wonder Woman have an invisible space ship where you can see her but not the space ship? LOL! She should just do porn and call it a day.

I can't get over the fact that they just remade "Ben-Hur". I've started on my screenplays for the reboots of Casablanca, Gone With the Wind, and Star Wars.

Does anyone know if Suicide Squad follows the story line of animated, "Batman - Assault on Arkham"? If so, was it close, or were ill-advised liberties taken?

I can't get over the fact that they're remaking Dirty Rotten Scoundrels... with Rebel Wilson as the star.

"The updated remake brings con artistry to the 21st century — two female scam artists, one low rent and the other high class, compete to swindle a naive tech prodigy out of his fortune."

Sounds like compost to me.

I just sent my best Tonya Harding voice over to whack your legs with a baseball bat.

Of course, all the remakes are about A) the audience is 90% morons who grew up watching the same videos over and over and over, and B) the movie producers are all about money, and don't give a rat's ass about art, quality entertainment, encouraging new voices in cinema, etc.

When Tarantino is the best "new voice" you can come up with, it's pretty bad. I'm not saying he's bad, I'm just saying that I don't see much room for new directors the level of a Hitchcock or Kubrick.

And the computer activity is stupidly off the hook. It was fun back when it was new, in quality movies like Toy Story were a new thing. Now, every movie, especially these dumb sequel-sequel-sequel-sequel comic book movies are pretty much unwatchable. What used to be... "wow, you couldn't do that with a real camera!"... is now "JFC, I'm getting a migraine headache from all this non-stop swooping camera angle BS" in this otherwise snoozer of a story-free 2-hour CGI-fest.

Spike, sorry to report, pretty much has it nailed here...though I disagree mightily when it comes to Quentin. Then again, it's pretty much always been this way. After it's called show business. People love seeing the same stuff over and over. As Lenny famously asked George in Of Mice and Men, "tell me about the rabbits!"
