Well, I can hear it anyway- sitting here on the deck with a rum & tonic listening to it crash on the beach 1/2 mile or so away, accompanied by the occasional round of fireworks. The one good thing about those Atlantic tropical storms and hurricanes is the wave action.

Gonna break out the boogie board in the AM

Rum & Tonic used to be my drink of choice. Until I switched to Rum & Lime and never looked back.

4 parts Mount Gay
1 part Roses

Doesn't take too many of those.

Mt Gay.....my rum of choice since 1972....before you could buy it in US. I went to the University of Miami and a buddy of mine had a 30 foot ketch. Second semester, senior year I had classes, Tuesday and Thursday, which made for some long weekends. We used to leave Miami around midnight on Thursday so we could get into Bimini at sunrise so we could see the reef.

We would bring back a case of Mt Gay, drink 1/2 and sell 1/2 then repeat the next weekend!

About 15 year ago, my mom saw a bottle of Mt Gay in a liquor store and remembered the name and got it for me. When she gave it to me I was afraid to open it, I did not want my memory to be greater than the real thing. After 6 months I cracked the seal...OMG......I was so NOT disappointed

Have had that one. I'll stick to Bourbon, thanks.

And surf! Sounds like fun. I keep hearing about the big stuff that shows up days before the storms. Wish I wasn't 1000 miles away.

I don't think I could ever live more than an hour or so from salt water- I was innoculated as a little kid, and...

If you innoculate too much you'll go blind.

I used to think so too, then I discovered the Sierra Nevada's (the mountain range, not the beer). Ok, the beer too. :) Something about the perfect weather in Tahoe, and the biking and skiing there almost made up for the lack of salt air. Of course, I only lasted 5 years there, and back near the ocean I be.

I remember my parents and friends drinking Mt Gay rum as a kid, I will have to seek some out to understand. (my rum tends to be limited to Bacardi and Capt Morgans)
