I saw <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Surly-Fixxer-hub-converter-Shimano-freewheel-chain_W0QQitemZ7247329864QQihZ015QQcategoryZ2904QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem">this ebay ad</a> while I was looking for cheap cogs. It makes no sense to me. if you've got a shimano freehub and you want to run it ss, wouldn't you be much better off from both a chainline and longevity perspecitve to use a ss cog and spacers over a FW w/ a fixxer? that's what I've always done, I'm curious if there's a good reason that I'm not aware of to use a FW on a shimano freehub. the 9 speed chain is an odd choice too, but that's a side issue.
