I find it interesting that the chase peleton is not as organized as in previous Tours. Major rider are out of the running, and so the chases of breakaway groups are nowhere near as aggressive as in the past years.

No one seems to know quite who the "leaders" are right now, and/or who might be a "threat" to the General Classification. Teams seem somewhat disorganized.

This should work itself out next week . . .

the ideal case for peloton is to chase down breakaway right before the finish, to discourage new attacks. So far they have done a perfect job at that - zero "long-range" breakaways (I am not counting Kessler's as such).

Flat stage tactics has little to do with GC "leaders" - it has everything to do with sprinters, who are still very much in the race. It will be much more interesting to see what happens in the mountains. There we might see some confusion.
