It is pretty standard to give the wild cards to French teams at the Tour. Pretty hard to justify leaving them at home to let a continental team from another country in. Gerald Ciolek is a great sprinter and could have mixed things up a bit for the group finishes. Too bad.

Meh. It's expected. Who cares? There will be 19 ProTour teams there. Ostensibly, these are the 19 best pro teams. And with the race antics of folks like Voekler and Rollin, it's hard to argue with ASO's 'formula.'

I'm sorry for the new team IAM from Switzerland with their captains Thomas Löfkvist and Heinrich Haussler. After the reinstallment of Katusha as a world tour team by the UCI, unfortunately the ASO made the decision to spread only 3 instead of 4 Wildcards.
