Cycling season 2011 is looming on the horizon. And - thanks to Lightweight - it will loom very fast! The Italian pro team "Franese Vini - Neri Sottoli" trusts on the ultra fast and extra light full carbon fibre wheels of Lightweight which are produced with precise hand craft in Germany.
The team not only presents a new title sponsor for 2011 but also an enigmatic figurehead with Italian Champion Giovanni Visconti. Since the founding year 2009 the team shows up at the starting lines of all international races with a pro-continental UCI license. But the team roots go deeper until the early years of this century. Young talents have been selected and purposeful promoted in the younger age groups to end up as an entire group in the pro race circuit. The squadra is leaded by team manager Luca Scinto. Beside Giovanni Visconti and German rider Patric Sinkewitz as the captains the team is a composition of young Italian and Ukrainian riders. Teams headquarter is located in San Barolo in the beautiful Tuscany where most of the riders are living.
From Thursday the 9th on the whole team - and most of the team sponsors - are having an one-week team meeting and training camp in the beautiful Tuscany. The four-star resort Campastrello Sport, which is located south of Livorno next to the Italian Mediterranean coast will be the home of 17 riders, the management, mechanics, trainers, general staff and some team sponsors like Lighweight, Lazer, DMT, MCipollini and many others. Main goal is to have daily roll outs on the new bikes.
"After the last weeks where filled with general fitness training in the gym, some alternative sports or swimming now we have the first stage of bike specific training," team manager Luca Scinto explains. "All riders are in daily contact with me, all of them have received their race program for the next season and during the following week we will lay the first basics for a successful 2011. Our new riders will be a real part of the team very soon and we can´t wait for the first races to come."
"We at Lightweight are standing totally behind Luca Scinto and his idea of building this team. Here you can see a tremendous potential of young, talented and hungry racers of the new generation. All of them are straining at the leash to race, some of them raced together since years and show a perfect team spirit," Jörg Ludewig, former pro rider with Italian connection and head of sales at Lightweight, mentions. "….and on top I am very glad to see my former team captain Mario Cipollini more often in the future and work together with him to reach a goal even as ex-pro-riders."
