Shimano’s new DA 7900 cassettes will be offered in the following configurations: 11-21, 11-23, 11-25, 11-27, 11-28, 12-23, 12-25 and 12-27. I presently have a DA 7800 12-27 cassette on my bike because I do a lot of hills. I plan to install the new DA coomponents on a bike I am building. What would be the benefits of an 11-28 or an 11-28 over the 12-27? It seems to me that there would have to be some pretty big jumps between gears on those two new 7900 cassettes.

I put a new Force group on at the first of the year with a 11-28 cassette, but after about 500 miles I went back to a 12-27. I didn't like the big gaps and I really feel just as strong with the 12-27. Everyone's different I guess.
