I spent all day Monday and Tuesday in a courtroom in Vancouver.

Had to leave the house Sunday.

After the wind up of the hearings on Tuesday myself, counsel and the client went for dinner, then onto the hockey game.

Too much beer and wine. Too much food. Too little sleep ....... etc.

Got up early this morning and headed out to come home, drove down and it was a beautiful day for a drive back today.

Of course I was hydrating pretty hard so there were a few quick pit stops along the way ( I'm really getting too old for this stuff).

Stopped at the summit of the last pass before home for a "nature call".

Brilliant Blue Sky, sun shining.

3*C.

Snow piled up higher than the roof of the building and as I get out of the car, into the parking area rolls a guy a few years older than me, this would be around 11:30 AM.

To get there he has just finished a climb, with no flats, no downhills, just UP, 15 miles of it - about 5500 feet.

I was standing there feeling mostly like crap, rushing to get back to town and back to my office, thinking what a freaking wonderful day it was and wishing I could be on the bike....... and in rolls this guy doing exactly what I would like to be doing.

With a smile a mile wide on his face.

Damn I was jealous of that guy - great big huge Green Eyed Monster time.

I got in the car and finished the drive so I could go back to work. :mad2:

TMB, I don't want to hurt your feelings, or make you use some arcane Canadian swear word while referring to me, so I'll just move on to the next thread.

Nope - he actually lives 4 hours away over two (or is it three?) mountain passes. He just makes occasional visits to the big city. And I know what TMB means: I've cycled that pass - lots of fun (though a bit too much traffic for my liking). I've also driven it in all sorts of dodgy weather - not so nice.

I can relate. I just spent the last six hours removing viruses from computers.

I didn't really sign up to get into IT to devirus peoples computers but its turning out that way.

Grumble.

4 hours from the Four Seasons to my front door.

Two main passes.

Honestly Oarsman, one of the things I missed least when we moved away was the traffic and the absolute impossibility of getting around that city. And it just keeps getting worse. Occasional visits are enough now-a-days.

The traffic is getting worse. By the day, I swear. That's why I almost never drive. I can get around fine on the bike (or Skytrain).
