I remember being ridiculed in high school for liking the Kinks. One friend said they were as bad as the Monkees (wtf?) A few years later those haters were all on the Kinks bandwagon. Buttheads.

I'm a film fan and absolutely adore "Celluloid Heroes". Favorite line: Celluloid heroes never really die".

Here's my two all time favorite Kinks songs: Waterloo Sunset & Victoria

How timely.

I'm sitting in the Red Carpet Lounge in SFO at this very moment listening to my Kinks playlist on my little tree frog green iPod. I had the pleasure of seeing them once when I was in college, their re-debut US tour after all their union problems were solved. Amazing.

You Really Got Me
All Day and All of the Night
Set Me Free
Who'll Be the Next in Line
Till the End of the Day
Tired of Waiting for You
A Well Respected Man
Dedicated Follower of Fashion
I'm Not Like Everyone Else
Sunny Afternoon
Victoria
Berkeley Mews (my favorite - "I staggered cross your sh!tty dining room")
This is Where I Belong
Waterloo Sunset
David Watts
Deadend Street
Shangri-La (currently playing)
Get Back in Line
Fancy
Wonderboy
Apeman
King Kong
Death of a Clown
Lola

11 or so years ago Ray Davies was touring promoting his "unauthorized autobiography." I won tickets from a radio station at 3am. It was great listening to him for a few hours playing acoustic bits of songs solo but mostly regaling us with stories of the old days. I bought the book but haven't read more than half of it.

Berkley News???? Shouldn't that be Berkeley Mews?

Agree those are both great songs, BTW.

Sorry. I have too much of a life (and too little of a memory) to go dredging up threads from 7/08.
