Malaysia - South African powerhouse and Fly V Australia rider, Jay Thomson claimed stage 2 of the 2010 Tour de Langkawi in emphatic fashion.

After being out front for 120 km of the 180 km stage Jay had the reserves left when they were
needed and easily accounted for his two break away companions at the finish.

Jay said, "Today was tough especially with the heat and humidity. Out front in the break we agreed to ride conservatively initially ensuring that we had the ability to increase our tempo as the inevitable chase commenced from the main peloton as a result we were able to hold onto our almost 3 minute advantage."

Heading into stage 3 Jay sits in third place behind Germany's Tobias Erler and Australia's David Pell. With three minutes buffer it looks as though Jay is well positioned for the week and will look to conserve energy ahead of a full on assault for the Yellow Jersey on the crucial Genteng Highlands stage on the Tour's penultimate day.
