I have a frame I'm building up - a nice calfee I found on ebay. I found a great calfee fork that is threaded. But I really don't want a threaded setup on this bike.

The fork's got a long steerer tube and sticks way up over the head tube. The threads don't start for about 2 to 3 inches above the top of the head tube.

Is it safe to set this configuration up as threadless?

Thanks

I am pretty sure a threaded for steerer would be plenty strong to support a threadless stem as long as its not clamped where the threads are cut (as mentioned above)
