1. Cake - He's Going the Distance
2. Pantera - Walk
3. Rage Against the Machine - Calm Like a Bomb
4. Nickelback - Animals
5. Rage Against the Machine - Killing in the Name of
6. Coal Chamber - Sway

I spent the summer of 1986 commuting to a summer job at McDonalds on my Murray 10-spd. The commute was 5-6 miles, up and down hills on the then western outskirts of St. Louis. Every day it was 95-100 degrees with 95-100% humidity. Thank God for the walk-in freezer at the end of the ride

Anyway, I had a walkman and a tape of Van Halen's 5150 album, which was pretty good cycling music. Whenever I hear the song "5150" from that album I think about chugging up those hills in the sweltering Missouri heat.

I generally don't listen to music on the bicycle now, but if I did I would probably have to que up some Van Halen in the MP3 player for old time's sake.

one song that frequently goes thru my non-ipoded head, usually during a longer training ride is iggy pop's "the passenger."
sample lyric:
"He see the stars come out tonight
He sees the city's ripped backsides
He sees the winding ocean drive
And everything was made for you and me
All of it was made for you and me
'cause it just belongs to you and me
So let's take a ride and see what's mine."

songs for cycling

I think every bike race should start with Queen's "Bicycle Race" Classic and completely appropriate. Also, agree with post on the AC/DC song for the Nike ad. Definately gets you pumped up to go inflict pain upon yourself...

I think Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight is the best to warm up to. I would listen to a live set by Tiesto or any other Electronic Dance Music. Numbers is my all time favorite Kraftwerk song.

OHM if you like Kraftwerk, you would def. love Dynamix II or Jackal and Hyde. Hit those up on a long ride and you will fly. lol...
