I'll be doing the Xterra in Alabama on June 8. Will likely be hot and humid.

Is there any reason not to do the bike and run shirtless? Most of the course is shaded. I checked the rules, I think I'm good as long as my number is facing forward during the run. I'll carry a Camelbak during the bike.

I'm normally a modest person, but last weekend I did a trail run without shirt, and the lack of nipple rash was . . . nice. But when I look for photos of Xterras online, everyone seems to be wearing those sleeveless tops, so I wonder if there's a reason.

You could always pierce your nipples and hang your race number from them.

In all seriousness, it's probably just some environmental protection from all the stuff that could get you out there.
