Astana displayed it's team dominance with a powerful win in the the Team Time Trial at the Tour de France today. Besting Garmin-Slipstream by 18 seconds, but more interestingly, beating Saxo Bank by just 40 seconds. Putting Lance Armstrong in second, right behind tour leader Fabian Cancellara by fractions of a second.

Team Astana blazed through the team time trial to win stage 4. Astana came across the line 40 seconds ahead of the Saxo Bank squad of race leader Fabian Cancellara - the exact margin by which Cancellara led Lance Armstrong on general classification. After some careful math by race officials, Cancellara now holds the yellow jersey by a fraction of a second over Armstrong.

MONTPELLIER, France (AFP) - Lance Armstrong dramatically missed out on the yellow jersey by the slimmest of margins here on Tuesday after his Astana team smashed their rivals apart in the Tour de France's fourth stage time trial.

(CNN) -- Lance Armstrong has failed by under a second to take the yellow jersey in the Tour de France, after the American's Astana team powered to victory in the 39km fourth stage team time-trial around Montpellier.

Seven-times winner Armstrong began the day 40 seconds behind race leader Fabian Cancellara in third position on general classification -- and his Astana team duly beat Cancellara's Saxon Bank team by that very margin, with the Garmin team splitting them in second position.

The result means Swiss Cancellara keeps hold of the race lead by the slenderest of margins, with 2007 champion and Armstrong's team-mate Alberto Contador in third place, 19 seconds behind the leading two." Read more from CNN International...
