i hope this happens. Stage 15 is tentatively planned for my home town Boulder Colorado. http://www.cyclingnews.com/news.php?id=news/2008/may08/may28news2. If it does happen, my guess it will be mtn top finish up Flagstaff road (which happens to my favoirte ride). I'll be taking that day off from work.
I'm hoping the same as well. There's a stage out of Reno up to Tahoe City. This would probably use Mt Rose highway which has a 8900' pass. It will be interesting to see how the ToA does against the Vuelta since they are scheduled for the same time of year.

It will never happen. don't riders need to carry IDs and ride no more than two abreast in Boulder?

The first transfer between stages 9 and 10 is 1100 miles. The riders will be on a plane, but the mechanics and soigneurs need to take the trucks and cars by road. That's a 16 1/2 hour drive if you go non-stop.

The second transfer is 1040 miles or 14 1/2 hours of driving non-stop.

It ain't gonna happen like that.

They'd be much smarter to alternate east coast and west coast from year to year, much like TdF goes clockwise and counter-clockwise.
