i heard a rumor that Zabriskie was going to try to be at the peak of his fitness during the Tour of California....any truth to this? i'd be surprised if CSC allowed this, because i'd think that after his show of strength last year at the TdF, they'd want him to be at his best for that. anyway, sounds like there will be quite a few very big names at this Tour of California thing. maybe it will help people appreciate cycling a bit more. party at my house after the last stage!

Zabriskie

I hear Dave Zabriskie is gearing up for the race and CSC is bringing a strong team.
He beat Ivan Basso, who set a winter PR, on a hill climb that their team uses for fitness assessment.

Correct! Zabriskie is already in a great condition!! He rouled with Basso on the hills of Tuscany and Basso went to make his best time on those climbs!!

that Dave is going to become a more diverse rider, than just a time trial specialist. He did quite well last year in the Giro in pulling Basso on the beginning sections of climbs last year in a couple of stages.

Wouldn't that be a boost to the 1st year of the event to have a Bay Area local boy win it.
