Trek in conjunction with the CPSC has issued a recall for model year 2013 through 2019 Kicksters. According to the recall, the steerer tube clamp can fail if over-tightened due to an issue with the manufacturing process, posing a crash hazard to the rider.

Trek Kickster Recall

Trek is recalling Kicksters sold from August of 2012 through April of 2019.

The Trek Kickster is a strider-style bike lacking pedals designed to help toddlers learn to balance without training wheels. To date, there have been 11 reports of broken steer tube clamps and one report of a minor injury.

The Kicksters included in this recall were sold at Trek retailers starting in August of 2012 through April of 2019 for approximately $170.

Trek urges parents to immediately take these bikes away from children and bring them to their local authorized Trek dealer. Trek will replace the clamp on affected bicycles, free of charge.
