I'm doing my first sprint tri this summer, and had a question about transitions. Coming out of the water (ocean swim), what do you do about all the sand on your feet? I would not want to have a layer of sand inside my cycling/running shoes. Do you just keep an extra water bottle in the transition area for rinsing your feet? Is there usually a shower or faucet or footwash area provided?

Thanks for any feedback.

When you lay out your transition area, lay it out on a towel with an extra water bottle. Squirt your feet with the bottle and wipe on the towel. Et Voila! (Saw this at www.beginnertriathlete.com along with a bunch of other helpful advice. FWIW, I put down a lot of my thoughts on my first triathlon here: http://forums.jpfitness.com/showthread.php?t=5786

Going back to do my second one this week. Good luck to you!
