Two questions--

Has any one used the Tufo tape with tires from manufacturers other than Tufo? And are there any concerns in doing that?

And what is the best method for removing old glue from rims?

It will work, but you will never be able to repair the tire, if you get a flat. Paint remover will take off glue. (use gloves)......The rim has to be almost as clean as a new rim before you use the tufo tape.

Tufo tape

Acetone works great for removing glue. I've heard that Tufo tape will not release well from the base tape on non-Tufo tires, tearing it off the tire. I really can't see any reason to use the stuff when a bottle of Conti or Panaracer glue costs a fraction, is easy (maybe not easier) to apply and presents no problems with removal.
