Tuning Sram shifter - help

This is slightly embarassing cause I'm a mechanic....

I stayed at the shop after we closed to build my Pedal Force RS2. I had trouble when it came to tuning the shifting. Well, I had only ridden Sram double tap, never set one up, none of the bikes we carry ever come with it stock...

I have red shifters and force derailleurs. The shifter felt a lot harder to move than I remember. Part of the problem I was having with tuning them may have to do with having only ridden Force for a short while ( test riding a repair bike).

So I go to set up the derailleurs like always. Once I start downshifting (10th to 1st), it doesnt do what I expect it to. I can get it to shift 10 to 9, then I try to go 9 to 8 and it shifts halfway up the cassette. I could not get it to shift just one at a time. Starting at 1st gear going to 10, it did the same thing. The cable is fine, I even took the tape and bar tape off.

verify the cable routing at the derailleur, it should run to the left of the pinch bolt. That could cause the cable to hang a bit. Then look at cable tension and b screw. The only other problem I've had was due to a really bad derailleur hanger alignment. I've set up rival, force, and red without any real difficulties so far.

yeah, i debated for a bit one how to run the cable there. when you say left of pinch bolt, is that closer to the frame or furthest?
it would be closer to the frame, the cable will run in the grooved track before the bolt and then to the left of the bolt (I missed this the first time I set up a sram group). The instructions show this pretty well. It seems odd initially, but it certainly makes a difference when playing with cable movement. I could take a pic tonight if you want.
i got it now... i totally missed that channel for the cable. after that it was easy to set up.

so far i love sram double tap, red shifters are awesome. the RS2 feels like it'll be awesome as well. i only road it for a minute in the parking lot but tomorrow ill give it a good 2 hour ride before work....

came in at 16.5 lbs, but thats with a heavy shimano wheelset and super heavy seat post....

i have easton ec90 stem, ec90 slx bars and fork, and ea90 slx wheels on the way. im thinking sub 15 lbs after that. im also gonna put a SLR saddle on there which will save about 100 grams.
Nice! Glad to hear that it works now. Post some pics when it's perfect for you. I'm going to share my pic...just because I like to show off my bike. It's a Time VXR (the complete carbon version) with a full red group, DT Swiss mon chasseral wheels, and SLR XC (couldn't get used to a SLR).
