I don't even live in Jville but from what I read it must be ridiculous. I live near Chattanooga and people are pretty bike friendly. Although I've had several incidents like some guy almost running me over at a stop light and when I turned around and looked he said "Sorry I didn't see you" when I replied " Its cool man just pay more attention so someone doesn't get hurt next time" he then thinks hes tough in his car and says "F*** You man you shouldn't be on the road anyway". I left it at that because I figure if he's that ignorant he has more problems than me already.
I love the comments about how bike riders think they own the road. PLEASE tell me how some 150-200 lb person on a 15-20 lb bike traveling 20 mph thinks they own the road. How can this compare to 3k-4k lb vehicle traveling 40 mph. Please see Newtons Law of Motion for outcome!! It drives me mad these people who think this way no matter what age, race, sex or political party. We all have to share the roads whether it be bikes, motorcycles, horses, pedestrians and vehicles. I agree non-motorized traffic should be prohibited on certain roads generally where speed limits exceed 50mph.
I admit nobody is perfect whether it be car or bike but just a little FYI for people who have no respect for bike riders. If you run someone over and they survive their probably gonna sue your butt off. If they don't how can anyone carry that with them the rest of their life knowing they took someones Mom, Dad, Son, Daughter, etc., etc., etc., because they were in a hurry and couldn't wait even 20-30 seconds to safely pass someone. Is another life really not worth a few seconds out of your day to be courteous and make sure everyone stays safe on the road?
