Looks like it happened around 5:40 tonight. It is just too crazy out there...wonder if they were wearing any night gear to make themselves more visible. There has been times, where I have barely seen guys riding down the street, in dark clothes while I was out driving.

Sun in eyes?

Don't know any of the details, but according to this article they were crossing the street in an unmarked crosswalk. 99% of us here don't use the crosswalk, either. If they were cyclists, they were probably going through an instersection as cars as would.

Tragically, twilight is tough for everyone to see, and the article speculates that the driver had the sun in her eyes.

Be careful & act like you're invisible everyone.

Sun in her eyes?

Sun in her eyes? If this is her excuse then I don't buy it. More likely inattention due to a cell phone or radio/CD was to blame. We've all driven into a low sun and when we do so we fold down the sun visor and pay greater attention to the road in front of us. We don't drive as if it's an empty freeway with perfect visibility.
That's the second fatal incident involving cyclists in the greater San Jose area in the past couple of weeks. Makes me wonder if I'm going to be the next victim of a careless driver.
