Mentally picture the clamp that goes around the handlebar as having a bolt sticking out of it down the center of the shifter body. Then peel back the lever hood (from the front of the bike toward the handlebars) and you will see a cavity in the lever body. Stick a 5 mm allen wrench into that hole and wiggle it around until it drops into the allen nut. The allen wrench will be pointed toward the handlebar. The nut is right hand thread and you just keep turning it until the lever comes loose.

If you Google "Shimano Tech Docs" you will find some blow-up images of all the parts of the shifter and clamp to get a better understanding of how things go together. You also can Google the topic along with the word "video" and you will find plenty of tutorials.

6600 has the bolt head on the outside of the shifter body(under the hood). Slide wrench in tilted slightly down along center line and slide back towards bar to get engaged. 6700 is on top of body right in the center, just pull hood back & look(as KI said).
