It'll work fine. The difference between a triple and double rear derailleur is that the one intended for triples has a longer cage so it can take up more chain slack.
Ultegra 6500 triple rear der with double?
I've heard and read so much conflicting stuff on this, I had to post here to collect more opinions. Shimano docs state that their 6500GS (long cage-triple) rear derailleur is not compatible with a double front chainring. Is this BS, or is that set up (triple Rr w/ double Ultegra crankset) workable?
