The 2009 VASA ride is being held in memory of Anders J Ericson. Anders J Ericson served as Press Counselor at the Embassy of Sweden in Washington from autumn 2006 until his untimely death during the 2008 Vasa Bike Race.

That didn't sound all that promising and the weather was iffy but the registration was free and they promised hot Blueberry soup to all finishers.

Free Soup. I'll ride for that! :thumbsup:

BTW my hats off to the Swedish Embassy for hosting the ride. :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

Heck the route wasn't all that interesting and we ride those roads all the time.

Miss M took a little detour knowing they weren't serving the soup until 10.

We are fine with the weather.

MTB? Only when it is snowy/icy.

The soup was about like it sounds, blueberries sweet and warm.

Any excuse for a ride (not that we actually wouldn't ride even if we didn't have that excuse).

Nice photos- did you guys do the 28 miler?

I went out for the 56mi for the 2nd year in a row, but bailed around Brickyard/Great Falls on the way back in and just rode home. It was a nice ride but every time we stopped to regroup I had a harder and harder time warming up again, and I wasn't too keen on riding in Bethesda panic traffic just ahead of the incoming snow.

I missed the soup though- that is good stuff.
