For the first time in its history, VeloVie is offering a non-carbon road bike. This Tempe, Arizona-based bike maker claims the Vecteur 100 is a great touring bike. The new steed utilizes hydro formed 7005 aluminum tubing with gusseted top and down tubes for increased stiffness, and paired it with a carbon bladed fork.
The drivetrain is a full Shimano 105 group set, and as with all the direct-to-consumer company's offerings, it comes with a two-week risk free trial, free shipping, free return shipping, and a one-year warranty. Pricing starts at $1,900 with Reynolds Attack wheels. Opt for a Shimano R500 wheel package and the price drops to $1,200.
Formed in 2006, VeloVie sells road and TT bikes direct to consumer, helping keep prices down. "We have whittled the bicycle buying experience down its most necessary skeletal factors. While we're always happy to field questions, we believe that we've created our online market place to do most of the speaking for us," said company co-founder Mehdi Farsi. "All of our component packages are completely range-consistent. If you order SRAM Red, you get SRAM Red - total manufacturer's spec, down to the last cable cap. We don't cut a single corner. Our years of experience working with customers has taught us that nothing works quite as beautifully as a 100-percent thoroughbred component group."
