First off, I apologize for the inconvenience this will cause some of you, but please take a look at the links above and follow the instructions to identify if you have an axle that is included in this recall.

I do not know why the CPSC announcement only mentioned the black pedals, but this voluntary recall applies to ALL KEO CROMOLY AXLE PEDALS MANUFACTURED BEFORE JAN. 2006. We have contacted the CPSC with this information, so an updated announcement should be posted soon.

If you have any questions about which models are affected, or how to identify if your pedals are subject to this recall, please visit our website at: http://lookcycle-usa.com/keoupgrade/. IF YOU ARE IN THE US, you will be able to identify which dealer in your area is an authorized service center by following the link near the bottom of the page. In addition to roughly 200 bicycle shops, we have enlisted 100 REI locations around the country as authorized service centers.

thanks, went to my local REI and 10 minutes later I was out with new spindles.

In Vancouver, Speed Theory will be setup w/spindles as the recall centre. I spoke with the Canadian distributor and spindles should be shipped ASAP.

Apparently the recall was gearing up for September and someone jumped the gun . . .

I posted this in the General Forum, but thought I would copy it here as well:


A big "Thank You" to Chas and Look.

I live in Barbados, and when I checked my 4 pairs of Looks I realized that 1 pair of Carbons and 1pair of Sprints were affected by the recall.
I immediately e-mailed Look (Aug. 7th) asking what I could do as I was concerned that living in the Caribbean I might be SOL.
Chas responded the next day (Aug. 8th) and asks if I'm willing to ship them to Look, he will personally receive them, get the axles changed and ship them back to me.
That was a Friday, so on Monday (Aug. 11th) I went and posted them to Chas.
Fedex just dropped off my newly serviced pedals today (Aug. 28th) about an hour ago.
Being without the pedals for just over 2 weeks was no biggie and well worth the peace of mind when riding.
Anyways, I'm one satisfied customer who is really happy to see that Look takes care of ALL their customers.
