Does anyone have any suggestions about what stores might carry one locally? Where to look online? I don't have much time, the race is this weekend.

Guitar Center or a music store that sells drums, but you'll have to beat it with a drum stick (won't have the ringer thingy in it).

tractor supply?
Yes - duhhh, they make them for cows and you can buy cow bells at the Tractor Supply store.

Or you could go Cow Tipping and when they are laying on the ground take it off.

Stop at the rodeo and untie the bell from the bull's dingus after he is done bucking off the rider.

something to note...
if you buy a musician's cowbell you'll need to beat it with a stick. (not code)

I've got one from www.cowbell.com
it's pretty sweet and they are loud!
(they have a suspended ringer inside so no stick beating required)

drill a hole in the top and hang a couple heavy caribiners inside, maybe with a zip tie up to the handle?
