Perhaps. But if you don't have suspension between wheels and frame, ride over rough terrain and want a smoother rider and better bike control, the Cane Creek Thudbuster is the one gizmo that really works and is made well.

Perhaps the bad reputation of suspended saddles comes from those telescoping seatposts that bike makers put on their $350 "comfort" bikes. Those are indeed crap. They're just marketing devices.

The thud has stood the test of time. It works well enough, except the linkages used to develop slop pretty quickly.
