I wasn't aware that they were coming out with a new retro brake. The "Neo-Retro" that's listed on their site is the onle one I'm aware of. Are you talking about a neo-neo-retro?Tony Montana said:

A different Mafac
Mafac made a center-pull brake, and the new Paul Mafac Racer is a reproduction of it. Some of you may remember them; I don't so that's why I was looking for pictures of it. Exciting stuff.

I've heard the same - that they're coming out with a Mafac Racer copy. I'm not sure why since most bikes won't work with it. However, I've got their touring canti's and thumbies and they make good stuff. There are lots of Mafac Racer's for sale on ebay right now under the user: banana_brain. Youve got to be fu**ing kidding me! they were hurrendous. My first "real" road bike a Carlton 531 circa 1979 came with a set, and even as a 70 lb schoolboy they sucked HUGE. And Pauls going to be CNC'ing a set for ooh $2-300 a set right?

Just had a quick peek on the classic forum and saw a number of afore mentioned centre pulls, looks like I'm gonna get linched by the "retro squad".
Probably with Alfredo Binda toe straps too!

if I wanted Retro Center Pulls
I'd get the Campy Aeros circa Miguel Indurain. Are they really gonna do this? I understand the Mafac Canti knock offs (Paul, Spooky, empella) but Racer Centerpulls. Not even I am that much of a luddite. I'm going to have to get out my Simplex Derailleurs and T/A Cranks and build a Frenchy Special. I can ride it to the bakery in the morning. Where's the suspenders for my wool shorts? Where's my Red, white and Green Hairnet?

AAH Campy Deltas what a mechanical snafu they were, (I say snafu because the delay was in the breaking response time when you pulled on the lever!!) truly awful and weighed a ton. How Indurain and Roche etc roared down alpine passes and climbed mountains dragging these monstrosities with them shows their true class. Gotta admit hard to beat decent dual pivots on a roadie now.atpjunkie said:
