I can get a set of wheels with the following spec:

DA 32-hole hubs
Mavic reflex rims
15g spokes: front x2, rear x3 drive, x2 other

Too fragile? Currently I have similar wheels on my race bike except the spokes are 14/15g x3 throughout. These wheel will go on my pit bike.

Those will be more than fine. I have 32h CXP33s on my bike and ride them on single track once a week. Still straight...

The cxp33's are a deep rim and offer more rigidity. I'm concerned about a box section rim with 15g spokes. I'm not too concerned about the lacing.

This past season I tweaked a Reflex in what seemed like a garden variety wash-out in mud. However, I rode the front on that set flat over a rough course for a pretty long lap and it is still in pretty good shape after truing.

I run Reflex (all 3x 14 or 15 G)

and they do fine. I did snap one on a root though

Ck this build out...

I say it's fine because I'm running DA 28 H front and rear. 2X in front, 3X in back with 15g spokes. They held up unbelievably well. I truly thought they'd get killed when I let a friend use them, but they are as straight as the day I got them!
