a full Sora or Tiagra gruppo (minus hubs)?

(For the record, this is for a bike build for my brother who only rides a little right now. I'm trying to get him to ride more as a motivation to quit smoking. It's a cheap frame, and I'm not going to put a ton of money into it.)

I've never seen either of those groups available for purchase. As far as I know (which isn't THAT far), they're only available OEM on bikes. I suppose you might be able to get the individual pieces from the service department of someplace like Performance that sells and services a lot of Tiagra bikes, but I'm not even sure about that.

The lowest-spec Shimano stuff I've seen in group form is 105.

Maybe someone else knows better, though.

you can buy it all individually, but shimano doesn't allow online purchases

i think probikekit's kit builder might get you it...
not sure though
you can get some low end campy there instead if you wanted (IE Xenon)
