The ad was good. The "Kelly Blew Book" comment was great.

My brother had one, he thought it was a great car...
maybe he changed his mind when it blew 1/2 the way from LA to Phoenix.
He is weird.

Perhaps she just wanted to give someone a BJ, but didn't want to come out and say that?

Y'know... appearances, n' all.

Anyhow, I drove an old used brownish-gold Chevette back in high school. My two memories of it are

1) the (locked) driver's door flying open on any very hard turn (not kidding)

2) getting out of the car on a hot summer day, rolling up the window, and slamming the door shut as I walked away. Upon the door closing, the driver's side window exploded. Literally.

Pretty sh!tty car. I think it broke down terminally after about six months. It was not missed.

One of the worst cars in an era of clunkers. America's answer to the Trabant. IIRC, Detroit was trying to respond to small, inexpensive cars coming in from Japan. They left out the quality.

Cruise missiles were relatively new in the late 70s. At the time a friend had an idea: Put a fleet of cheap, self-driving cars on the Autobahn, each with a nuke in the trunk. If war broke out they would all head east to the border. He called it the cruise Chevette. Made at least as much sense to me as anything else in the cold war.

I learned to drive in an late-70s LTD.
I learned to drive standard in a late 70s Chevette.

From what I remember, that car was trouble.

I remember guys back in my HS days turning these cars or Gremlins into drag racing cars. A small light car with too much power equaled a really squirrelly ride.

Man, I completely missed that, on my local Craigslist too. I do appreciate my fellow Kansas Citian's thrift, but imagine her/his offer was tongue in cheek, or something

My father bought a snot green Chevette for me and my sister to drive during high school. I guess he really didn't like us very much. One winter a friend and I were driving it in a blizzard to go skiing in NY, and skidded off the interstate, doing a few 360s and ending up in the median unscathed. A few years later our garage caught on fire, but the POS Chevette survived. So yeah, they're harder to get rid of than an STD.

seems it would be a break in the contract to agree to the terms, receive felatio but then to fail to remove the car.

however, i cannot see the seller taking additional, legal steps to recover damages if this happened.

this is the 'meat' of my written brief.

"Kelly K" is kinda ambiguous as to whether this is a man or a woman offering the deal. I mean, any port in a storm I suppose... but I really don't need an old Chevette.

In the late eighties, an on-again off-again girl friend had a Chevette.
Automatic. Diesel.
She hated it.
I could get to the next traffic light faster in a wheel chair.

I dated a girl who once gave me both of those items. I wonder how she's doing these days

Oddly enough, I also dated a girl with a Chevette. She practiced her stick shifting with me. I think the car was an automatic.

On a more serious note, she was in a horrific head-on collision in that car and was in the hospital for quite a while afterwards. She eventually recovered just fine.

I had a friend who had a much older Sister who was old enough to drive and had a tan Chevy "shove-it." At the time, Prince had the popular song, "Little Red Corvette," cept, she sang, "Little Tan Chevette."

I was about 9 or 10 and if I could have figured-out how to hit that, I would have . . . . . .

I had an 86 Chevette. Bought it new when I was 19. My first, last, and only GM product.

We've got a neighbor with a pontiac T1000, the pontiac version of the Chevette. He's driven it for as long as we've lived here (20+ years) and it looks the same as it always has. I don't think I've seen him go over about 35 mph in the thing. He can be seen holding up traffic all over town.

I think the T1000 has an iron block, so that one could be around a lot longer. The Chevette had aluminum without steel liners, OMG!

I think GM invented the Chevette so East Germans wouldn't feel so ashamed of driving a Trabant.
