I had health insurance last year from Kaiser Permanente. When I started it it took months for me to jus get them to take my money. Now that I canceled the plain in Dec. they won't stop sending me bills and can't figure out that I don't owe them money for January. I just spent an hour arguing with the nice lady from there about how I don't still owe them $300 for January and I'm not going to give them any more money. :mad2:

How did you cancel?

Do you have a receipt or some other acknowledgement from them?

Keep your cool. You will have a lot more success with polite requests for help than fist pounding and yelling.

Good luck.

I work for an insurance company and can't even answer that question for you. Yes it's convoluted but you should eventually get a resolution.

Just assume that the person you're speaking with 1) really can't solve the problem his/herself and 2) truly feels your pain.

Its vary muddy because I was getting a subsuty from the state so its both. I canceled on the phone in the beginning of Dec. when I became eligible for insurance at work. And in the time period that we had to renew our plains with the state marketplace. I called both the state and Kaiser. Both keep telling me we understand and you don't need to do any thing more. Then another bill shows up for $700 and now there calling me. Its enough to make you scram, the girl on the phone keeps telling me over and over again i need to make my Jan. anchor payment and I keep explaining that I don't have to it was canceled Dec 15th. Then she decided that I missed a payment way back in the beginning that I had to pay. And when I pushed her on that she suddenly found the copy of the check I sent in for that payment. You have to understand when I started this Kaiser couldn't figure out how to take parents from me and the state. I would call in every month just to be told they can't take my money I had to wait for a bill. Then I would never get a bill. I actually at one point lodged a formal complaint that the payment system is a total joke. I even told the girl on the phone this time about that. And she tells me O yea I see that.

Wife works in a hospital. The hospital has a Kaiser wing. After her stories about Kaiser Drs., the crazy run around you go through to get to a specialist, and Kaiser refusing to admit a friend to a hospital until his infected leg was very close to ambulation - only saved b/c hospital kicked Kaiser Drs. off of his case, I would not let Kaiser touch me with a ten foot pole.

Maybe different somewhere else, but no chance I would use them in NoVa.

I haven't seen much evidence that that's actually true. Because I work for a big company and of course have had issues with other big companies I've been on both sides of trying to solve a problem being like entering Kafka's The Trial and the squeaky wheel gets the oil much more often patience and politeness gets rewarded.

LOL. We have Kaiser too. And when I get frustrated w them I use that line. I'm not THRIVING.

And yes it get frustrating w the billing. I've had labs the last few weeks. You don't pay for your labs at the POS. They have to bill you. Everything else you pay your copay at time of service. So sometime in the near future I'll get a big bill for the labs. God forbid you pay late. Collection city

The Dr & I were discussing several different drugs. Had to go to Customer service to find out how much they would cost. One of them is really expensive. CS could not tell me how much. The Dr had to enter them in the system like I was going to fill them. THEN they could tell me how much $$$

I do like the online medical records & e mail w/the Doc. Really quick. Nice to be able to check over the Doc notes too
