Does anybody know if the 10 speed DA shifters work with a 9 speed bike?

9 speed shimano cog spacing is 4.34mm and 10 speed is about 3.95. Not close enough.

hey rusty, what would the answer be if you bought the 10 speed shifters, cassette and chain. I know the 10 speed cassette will fit on the Shimano 8/9 cassette body, but will the 9 speed rear der. shift the 10 speed cassette?

10sp/9sp mix

Someone posted this on the old forum a few weeks ago. As I recall, the poster upgraded to 10sp shifters, f.der. (only because needed the f.der, I think), chain, and cassette and reported it worked perfect with 9sp crank and r.der.

I don't know about D/A 10s, but...

Does anybody know if the 10 speed DA shifters work with a 9 speed bike?

...Campy 10v Ergos shifts S9 cogs fine.
