I saw this model of bike in a LBS a few weeks a go. I have been thinking about buying one ever since. It would be an minor upgrade from what I ride now component wise. It looked really nice on the shelf but I am not sure about the colour. Just leave yellow for the pro riders or is this for anybody? Yea I know technically anybody can own and ride a yellow bike but come on.....

There are cool yellow bikes out there... like this sought-after classic, for example...

For some reason though the bike in post #1 is a bit more overpowering in it's 'yellow-ness'... not sure why. Maybe the white side panel and alloy componentry on the Bridgestone offsets the yellow more than the black stays and components in the other bike. That's basically 'yellowjacket' coloring.

On the plus side, you should be very visible to traffic.

why ??
I don't care about the colour of bikes, it does not make them faster if they are yellow or red, but they might make you easier to spot in traffic.
Currently I have : brown, champagne, yellow, blue, black and a fluorescent pink bike.

If you like it, buy it

I had a yellow bike before...actually, had it painted yellow and liked it a lot. It's a color, nothing more...if you like it get it, if not...pass.

I wouldn't have a problem with riding a yellow bike, depending on the shade of yellow, it can be a hot color!!!

serotta CSI

had this Serotta CSi for a season. everything you've heard about a CSI is true and if it had been custom built for me i would have kept it. the color was cool. but yea buy the yellow bike ride the heck out of it.

My bike is yellow and black with yellow bar tape. It doesn't make me feel any different just because it's yellow. I didn't pick it because it was yellow either.

Lotta ppl in the thread saying "color doesn't matter", but... c'mon now.

Nearly everyone wants their bike to look cool, whether they admit it or not.

Maybe, but it's the "Yellow" bike that wins the Tour de France

So is red really faster?

True but...

But cops are also more likely to pull you over for speeding and your insurance rates are higher.

I have one yellow bike (a Gunnar Street Dog that once belonged to MB1) and a partially yellow bike (that came from a certain bike shop in Austin that is owned by a guy who has a thing about yellow).

I think current rules state that you are only allowed to use the colors red, black and white since about -oh- 2008 to the present. :D

Then again, there's this one pro rider who used a lot of yellow in his marketing:

To me all yellow bikes appear old. I suppose that's because I had a yellow Schwinn Paramount back in the 70's. When I saw a photo of Jens Voigt riding a yellow Mavic neutral support bike after he crashed and destroyed his during this year's tour I thought he had grabbed a spectators old bike and started riding...
