I am buying some Zipp 404's, probably from wheelbuilder so I can avoid the Zipp hubs and I wondered if it was worth going for a 24 spoke rear wheel? I weigh 175lbs.
I don't really know that 4 more spokes would make the wheel any stronger. 404 rims are damn strong and 20 spokes seems to be what Zipp thinks is fine. On the other hand 4 more spokes won't add much weight at all, so why not? If you're worried about it or have a history of being hard on wheels then go for 24.

The reason (or at least one reason) for more spokes is that the wheel is more likely to be rideable with a broken spoke. Not sure if that particular rim would be rideable, but it would be better than with 20 spokes.
