Does anyone out there have any experience with Workman Industrial bikes?? I have been thinking about getting one for some time. I am 230lbs and cheap bikes don't seem to last long with me. :blush2: I want something simple and tough to ride some of our desert roads. I like the baskets. Haul lots of water.

I haven't ridden one, but they look rock solid. The low gravity versions might be good for hauling alot of water.

Um... don't buy cheap bikes. Plenty of 230lb guys ride tough trails and nasty desert roads on quality moutainbikes, and they hold up just fine.

Nothing against the Worksman, they have a good rep, but they're not mtb's.

Wow!!
Just checked them out. "11 gauge spokes"!! if that don't hold ya not much will.

Here's the site info on the one I liked :

Worksman Industrial Bike - Model M2600

Exclusive Worksman Clincher Rims, 11 gauge spokes (.120) and much more. These are not toys..these are authentic Worksman Industrial Bicycles.Remember, choose Worksman because you want the best industrial bicycles on earth, with components that are more heavy duty than any other bicycles. Also, all Worksman Industrial Bicycles are proudly made in the USA.

I ride one at work that was paid for by our rich Uncle!

A complete tank. I could literally leave it out in the weather 24-7 and as long as the chain was lubed (preferably thick grease) it would last for decades. There are some being use in my shipyard that might be as old as me.

I bought a 3 wheel fixie version for my special needs son. It's great. What was odd though is that when I went to fix a flat I saw they had installed a 20" tube in a 16" wheel. The extra was just folded over.

ahhhh. The 'merican worker friday quittin' time special.
